A new charity vehicle was required for a new community centre

• Charity Company route vs Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
  The only way prior to 2014 for a charity to own land and buildings in its own name was to be registered with both the Charity Commission and Companies House. Now there is a new vehicle allowing you to gain the advanatages of incorporation whilst being registered and regulated only by the Charity Commission (reducing the burden and cost of regulatory compliance).
  
• Membership or Foundation Model
  The next decision to make is whether the new charity will have voting members or if the Trustees will be foundation members that decide new Trustees themselves.
• Writing of charitable aims and going through the setup process
  The founding Trustees must agree a constitution, charitable aims and where they intend to operate before we go through the setup process.

In this particular example, the client decided to become a CIO, on the Foundation model and after help in setting up its charitable aims and objectives, the charity was registered and became operational within weeks.
